review: *new* Kashi -- Maple Waffle Crisp

I guess "Waffle Crisp" couldn't be trademarked?

Let me start by saying I haven't had the Post Waffle Crisp in ages--maybe even the '90s?--so I can't really compare the two. That being said, let's dive in.

I forgot to do a sniff test first and just poured--are they supposed to be that small? I was expecting something more Honeycomb-sized (side note: I would totally eat a Kashi version of Honeycomb) and failed to note the "bite-size" descriptor on the front of the box. But define "bite-size." Your idea could be different from mine.

The "maple" color reads more orange-ish but I get what they were going for. I went back to sniff and definitely picked up a maple-y scent, but the cereal version of maple. It's like they boost it with a little sugar to amplify it. Ditto for the flavor. Checking the ingredients...yep, there's cane sugar. Called it. Also, hey, there's chickpeas in there. You can't taste them, though.

Overall, it was pleasant. Nothing spectacular, but it serves its purpose as a Waffle Crisp alternative.
