reviews: *new* Confetti Cheerios vs. *limited edition* Birthday Cake Cheerios

Skipping ahead in my reviews because I really wanted to compare these two...

Did we really need both of these this year? Probably not. Are they the same cereal? Also no. I'm going to start with the Birthday Cake Cheerios because I just opened them yesterday. One of the many, many food products celebrating America's 250th, it's a fun idea (red and blue sprinkles!) but that's about it. I wouldn't have been mad if they had just repackaged the Confetti Cheerios with different color sprinkles but the flavor of this one is more of a generic "sweet." They could've called it "Lightly Frosted Cheerios." I would've like another element to it, like if the sprinkles were berry flavored, or if Very Berry Cheerios had the sprinkles.

Anyway, on to the Confetti Cheerios, which I found in a little tub size at Walmart. More new cereals should debut this way; I could try them all without having to make a box commitment 😁So the confetti, obviously, is the sprinkles. It's a fun add, especially on a morning when you could use a little boost. I wondered when this was first announced, could you get the same effect from just adding sprinkles to a bowl of basic Cheerios? Actually, no. There's a subtle something here--I think it's vanilla?--that elevates it to box-purchase worthy. But I'm sure there's at least one more Cheerios flavor coming this year, so I'll hold off.
