review: *new* Kashi -- Simply Raisin

 Hey, it worked for Mini-Wheats. Or did it?


So here's the latest flavor in Kashi's line of biscuit-based cereals. Same little wheat biscuits, not overly sweet. But why raisin? You may recall Mini-Wheats tried this a few years back as part of their Touch of Fruit in the Middle line. It was weird then, but more palatable now. The filling actually tasted more like a cross between a plum jam and a fig jam. The sniff test was all raisin, though. When you think about it, this might be the best possible outcome. I love raisins but who really wants a mouth full of them, you know?

fun on a bun...

Technically, the bun is optional but I just have to recommend these Spice-Rubbed Chicken Breasts.  I thought it sounded like a different kind of chicken sandwich for me and I'd never made a rub before. I have plenty of recipes but none which triggered an immediate response of, "I must try this." Also, I'd never purchased cumin before. It smells like the primary ingredient in a packet of taco seasoning, so you can see why it would need to be balanced out with brown sugar. Actually, all of the spices work well together, even the little tang of thyme. I think I'll be trying it on salmon next.
